This Road Called Life

Just a little bit of everything…

I’m still alive… I swear.

Sorry folks! I’m working on a project and it’s (of course) taking longer than I thought it would to do, so I’ve been extracting data like a fool. Plus it’s kind of relaxing at the same time. I’m a geek and it involves spreadsheets and formulas, so it’s putting me in major chill out mode.

Happy Independence Day for those of you in the US!!! We did our thing yesterday. We have a neighbor that sets off a heck of a fireworks display each year. His wife passed away a few years ago, and July 4th was her favorite holiday, so he goes big in memory of her. Kind of sweet. Makes me wonder though, if Jeremy will do something like that. He’ll probably take a trip to the Caribbean to remember me lol.

Our neighbor’s show was amazing. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen a fireworks display in a bigger town, but I’d say it rivals the ones local to here. I unfortunately don’t have any pictures, as I was trying to keep my eyes on Chewy this year. He is not your average dog – fireworks don’t phase him at ALL.

We had more people last night than I think we’ve ever had for the show, so he was running around seeing everyone at first. Once it got fully dark, Jeremy and I made him stay close to us, and no joke, I think that turd NAPPED for half the show. Our last dog was quite afraid of fireworks (and everything!), so for Chewy’s first year with us, it was nice. With our Cheyanne, one of us had to stay inside with her to keep her calm. Even cranking up the tv or music didn’t work for her.

I stayed up later last night than I have ALL summer lol. Summer is usually our time, and through 2022, we’d sit up at night outside with the firepits and lightning bugs to entertain us. This year, last night was the first night we weren’t in bed before if was fully dark. I saw 1 am before I caved, and Jeremy was maybe about a half hour or so later. It worked – last night was the first night in a WHILE I didn’t wake up in the middle of the night for something or the other lol.

Now that we’re past the 4th (well, close enough to past lol), I’ve got tunnel vision for my Florida trip. My high school best friend (I’ll call her S) and I are going to the Fort Myers area for a few days at my aunt’s (and my other best friend lol). This will be my first time making the trip with S, but it’ll be my second to my aunt’s. (Don’t worry – S knows my aunt well – they became good friends also a few years ago when S’s hubby was in my aunt’s area for his residency. I’m not dragging my friend to see someone she barely knows or anything lol.) Last May I was there for a week. I floated (and napped!) in her pool, we went to Disney for a couple days, and I ate so much grouper that I’m surprised I didn’t turn into one!

My current project is pretty time consuming, but I’m hoping to have it finalized within a few weeks. I’m hoping it’s before my Florida trip, but I don’t know if that will be happening or not. I will give you a hint about it – it will answer one of the most asked questions I see about Sandals resorts.

About Me

My name is Teri, and I’m a 43 year old female living in the country in NW Ohio. If that reads “farm town” to you, you’ve hit the nail on the head! My hubby and I actually live on 2 acres of land that was at one point farm land of his grandfather’s!

My husband’s name is Jeremy, and I’ll probably mention him quite a bit in these blog posts. We’ve been together for 16.5 years and married for 13. Together we are self employed at our small body shop. Jeremy has been working on cars for about 33 years, and we’ve had our own business for 8 years now. I call him my grunt because he does the actual labor while I’m the office person. It sucks sometimes working together all day and then going home together (too much time together IS a real thing lol), but I wouldn’t have it any other way!! We also have a 4 legged “kid” named Chewy. We enjoy traveling, listening to music, cooking, gardening, Color Street (me WAY more than him!), and reading.
